Who is the Second Home Program for? Am I eligible? +

The program is designed for international professionals with a genuine connection to China — former expats, international alumni of Chinese universities, overseas Chinese, and their family members. If you have lived, worked, studied, or traveled extensively in China, or you are referred by someone who has, you are welcome. We also accept patients without prior China experience who are seeking specific treatments unavailable or unaffordable at home. A short conversation with our coordinators will confirm whether the program fits your needs.

Will I be able to communicate with my doctors? +

At every step. Your dedicated coordinator is fully bilingual and accompanies you to consultations, tests, and procedures — translating medical terminology in real time and advocating on your behalf. Our partner hospitals maintain English-speaking international departments, and all medical reports, imaging, and discharge summaries are delivered in English. We also support French, and can arrange interpretation for other languages on request. You will never be left to navigate a conversation alone.

Can I use my international health insurance? +

Yes. While TIECEC does not bill insurance directly, we provide internationally recognized documentation — itemized invoices, diagnostic codes, medical necessity letters, and detailed treatment reports — formatted for reimbursement by major international insurers and travel health policies. Many of our patients successfully claim 50–90% of their costs. If you would like, your coordinator can review your policy terms before you commit and help you understand what is likely to be covered.

How do I know the final price won't change? +

Your coordinator will give you a realistic, day-by-day timeline with your treatment plan, and can help arrange accommodation for any accompanying family.

What happens after I return home? +

Care does not end at the airport. Your coordinator remains your point of contact for 6–12 months after you return home, depending on your treatment. We schedule remote follow-up consultations with your treating physicians, coordinate any lab work or imaging near you, transmit results to your Tianjin specialists, and provide ongoing guidance on medication, rehabilitation, and recovery.
